What is PayPal?
PayPal Checkout lets customers start a PayPal payment from your website. Its JavaScript SDK displays the button; your server creates a PayPal order and captures the payment.
An approved PayPal order is not yet a completed capture. Your site must save the final outcome against its own order and show a useful status if payment is pending or declined.

How do I connect PayPal to my website?
A standard integration displays PayPal buttons through the JavaScript SDK. Your server creates an order with the Orders API and captures payment after approval. Your own order reference still connects the outcome to the purchase.
PayPal webhooks can report completed, pending or declined captures. Which events you need depends on the payment methods you offer. A browser return cannot replace this check.
